LDV T60 Key System — What You Need to Know

Earlier T60 utes use a transponder blade key, while the T60 Max and more recent variants use a smart key with push-button start. Both are programmed through the vehicle's OBD port into the immobiliser.

All-keys-lost T60: The most urgent T60 call we receive. We read the security data from the immobiliser, generate a new key registration, cut and program a replacement key, and delete the lost key's codes from the system — done at the ute's location in the great majority of cases, no towing required.

Spare keys: A T60 running on one key is an accident waiting to happen on a busy job site. Cutting a spare while the original still works is far cheaper than an emergency callout.

Fob battery: The T60 Max smart key uses a CR2032 cell. When it starts going flat, push-start detection becomes intermittent before it fails.

Common LDV T60 Key Problems in Hamilton

All keys lost on job site: Keys go missing on building sites, in paddocks, and at the beach. We attend these all over the Waikato — Rototuna, Te Rapa, Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Matamata.

Fob not detecting (T60 Max): Almost always a flat CR2032 battery, sometimes with a de-pair event. We carry the correct battery and re-pair the fob on site.

Broken key blade: Particularly common on earlier transponder-key T60s under daily job-site use. We extract broken blades without removing the barrel and cut a new one on site.

Spare key programmes for fleet: Businesses running multiple T60s benefit from a planned spare key visit for every ute rather than individual emergency callouts.

LDV T60 Coverage and Pricing in Hamilton

We cover the LDV T60 up to and including 2023 model year. LDV is still growing its NZ range, so for a 2024 or newer T60, call us with your registration and we will confirm coverage honestly before booking a visit.

Transponder key programming (earlier T60) typically runs $200–$350. Smart key programming (T60 Max) typically runs $350–$550. All-keys-lost recovery adds roughly $150–$300 on top. We always confirm a firm price over the phone before travelling.

Real Job Example: 2021 LDV T60 Max, Te Rapa

A Te Rapa tradesman called us after losing the only key to his T60 Max on a job site — most likely dropped somewhere in a skip bin along with offcuts at the end of a long day. He needed the ute first thing the next morning.

We arrived within 35 minutes. Using OBD access to the immobiliser, we read the security data, generated a new key registration, cut and programmed a replacement smart key, and deleted the old codes from the system. We also cut a spare while we were there.

Total time on site: 55 minutes. Two working keys, same evening — no towing to a dealer the next town over.
