A3 8P (2003–2012): Runs Audi's Immobiliser 4/5 system with a standard transponder remote key. One of the more accessible Audi key jobs we carry out — a popular second-hand premium hatch in Hamilton.

A3 8V (2012–2020): Transitional generation — early 8V models run Immobiliser 5, later production (from roughly 2013) moves onto MQB. Advanced Key (proximity entry) available on Sport and S line trims. MQB is the platform dealers point to as independent-proof; it isn't, but all-keys-lost needs data pulled from the instrument cluster or comfort module rather than a straight OBD write, so it takes longer and we quote it accordingly.

A3 8Y (2020–present): Current generation, fully MQB-based. Falls mostly outside our coverage window; see the FAQ below on the 2021-onward cutoff.

8V Advanced Key not detecting: Flat CR2032 battery causing proximity failures — the most common current-era A3 callout. We carry the correct cell and re-pair on site.

8V (MQB-era) all-keys-lost: Instrument cluster or comfort module data extraction. Genuinely more involved than the 8P generation, and we're upfront about realistic timeframes on the phone.

8P transponder key lost: Simple and affordable — the 8P is common as a second-hand buy in Hamilton with only one working key.

Key fob case damage: Audi fob casings are well made but crack on a hard drop. We rebuild with replacement casings where the circuit board itself is intact.

A Hamilton East owner's only Advanced Key to their A3 Sportback went missing after a house move — almost certainly packed into one of dozens of moving boxes, never to be found in time.

We arrived within 40 minutes. Because this 8V was built on the MQB platform, we extracted the gateway security data from the instrument cluster rather than writing over OBD directly, generated a new key registration, and programmed the replacement.
