“Lost the only key to my Hilux on a Friday afternoon. New key cut and programmed in my driveway by Saturday morning — and it cost half what the dealer quoted. Will absolutely call again.”

Hyundai ix35 Key Systems

The ix35 (sold in New Zealand from 2010 to around 2015) predominantly uses a transponder key with an integrated remote for central locking. Elite and Highlander trims on later models added a proximity smart key with push-to-start, while Active and base Elite variants kept the conventional transponder remote.

Both systems are programmed through the vehicle's OBD port. All-keys-lost recovery reads the immobiliser's security data directly from the vehicle, generates a new key, and deletes the lost key from the system — handled entirely on site, without towing.

Common ix35 Key Problems in Hamilton

All keys lost: A regular callout for ix35 owners, particularly on vehicles now on their second or third owner with no spare in hand. We generate a new key directly from the car.

Remote de-sync after a battery change: A known ix35 quirk after the 12V battery is disconnected for servicing — re-paired via OBD, no new remote needed.

Smart key not detecting (Elite/Highlander): Usually a flat CR2032 battery causing intermittent push-to-start — replaced and re-paired on site.
