The Kodiaq is offered with either a standard remote key or a smart proximity key with push-button start, depending on trim and year. Both are programmed through the OBD port with a working key present — we plug in, authenticate, and write the new key at your vehicle.

When every key has gone missing, we read the immobiliser or ECU directly to recover what we need and generate a new key from that data. This EEPROM work is done in the van at the vehicle, not sent away, so an all-keys-lost Kodiaq does not need towing. It takes longer than a straightforward spare and is priced to reflect that.

We can also delete a lost, stolen or unreturned key from the immobiliser at the same visit, so it stops being able to start the car — a sensible step on any second-hand Kodiaq where you cannot be certain every key was handed over.

A fading smart key battery is the most frequent Kodiaq call — intermittent push-button start failures are usually the first sign. We carry the right battery and re-pair the fob if needed.

Families running a Kodiaq on a single key are a regular callout for a planned spare, usually booked in advance rather than as an emergency. It is the cheaper and calmer way to solve the problem.

Keys locked inside with kids or shopping still in the car is a stressful but quick fix — non-destructive entry gets the door open without any damage, typically within ten minutes of arrival.

A Rototuna family called us on a Saturday morning after their only Kodiaq key went through the wash in a jacket pocket — it still looked fine, but would not communicate with the car at all.

We arrived within 35 minutes, confirmed the chip inside the fob had failed, and cut and programmed a new smart key from the vehicle's immobiliser. We also set them up with a second spare key while we were there, so a repeat of the same problem would not leave them stranded.
