The Seltos has been sold in New Zealand since 2019 with relatively few changes to its key architecture across model years, which makes coverage straightforward regardless of which year you drive.

Entry-level S and base trims use a conventional remote key with a chipped blade — press-button central locking, insert-and-turn ignition. LX, EX, and GT-Line trims use a smart key system: proximity detection, push-to-start, and a key that never needs to leave your pocket.

Both key types are programmed through the Seltos's OBD port, and all-keys-lost recovery works the same way on either — the security data is read directly from the vehicle's immobiliser, so a lost or stolen original key poses no risk once it has been deleted from the system.

Smart key not detecting: Almost always a flat CR2032 fob battery. The Seltos's proximity system can be sensitive to a weak cell, giving intermittent push-to-start failures. We carry the correct batteries and re-pair the fob on site in the same visit.

All keys lost: A common callout for younger Seltos owners juggling work, uni, and a busy social calendar. We generate a new key directly from the vehicle — no original needed, no towing.

Spare key cutting: Many Seltos owners are on a single key from new. Cutting a spare while the original still works is far cheaper than an emergency all-keys-lost callout later.

Remote or fob de-sync after a battery change: A known quirk after the 12V battery is disconnected for servicing — re-paired on site via OBD.
