All-keys-lost IS: We read the immobiliser through the OBD port, generate a new key registration, and delete the lost key from the system. Lexus security handshakes can take a little longer than mainstream brands — we give a realistic time estimate on the phone.

Smart key not detecting: A flat coin-cell battery causing intermittent proximity failures is the most common IS callout. We carry the correct battery and re-pair on site.

Only one key from purchase: Common on second-hand IS purchases — we strongly recommend a spare key while the original still works, given the cost of a dealer replacement.

A Claudelands owner called us after his IS250's only smart key began failing intermittently — most mornings it worked fine, but roughly once a week the car wouldn't unlock on the first attempt and push-button start needed two or three tries.

On inspection, we found the fob's coin-cell battery had weakened enough to cause marginal, inconsistent proximity detection. We fitted a fresh battery, re-paired the key via the OBD port, and tested proximity unlock and push-button start through repeated cycles to confirm the fault was fully resolved.

Total time on site: 25 minutes. A straightforward fix that avoided an unnecessary full key replacement.
