“Lost the only key to my Hilux on a Friday afternoon. New key cut and programmed in my driveway by Saturday morning — and it cost half what the dealer quoted. Will absolutely call again.”

Mitsubishi Pajero Key Systems

Earlier Pajeros typically use a conventional transponder key, often with a separate remote for central locking. Later models before the Pajero was discontinued in New Zealand added more consistent remote integration, and some upper grades carried a smart/proximity key with push-button start.

Because many Pajeros on Waikato roads are now older, higher-mileage vehicles, it's common for keys to be worn, for the ignition barrel to show wear, or for a vehicle to be down to a single working key. We program a replacement to match the immobiliser via the OBD port, or generate a new key directly from the vehicle if none are available.

Common Pajero Key Problems in Hamilton

All keys lost on a farm or job site: A regular Pajero callout across rural Waikato. We generate a new key directly from the vehicle.

Worn transponder key: Common on high-mileage, long-serving Pajeros. We cut a fresh key with a correctly registered chip.

Broken key blade in the ignition: We extract the broken piece without removing the barrel and cut a replacement on site.

Frequently asked

Mitsubishi key questions

Can you program a Mitsubishi Pajero key without the original?

Yes. We generate a new key directly from the vehicle and remove any lost keys from the system.

How much does a Pajero key replacement cost?

Basic transponder key: $150–$280. Smart/proximity key (later higher grades): $350–$600. All-keys-lost adds roughly $100–$250.

Can you do a 2023 or newer Pajero?

We cover the Mitsubishi Pajero up to 2022 model year (the model was discontinued in New Zealand before this, so coverage spans its full sales life). Call with your registration if you are ever unsure.
