Subaru Impreza Locksmith Hamilton

Impreza GE/GH (2007–2011) and GJ/GP (2011–2016): These generations use a transponder remote key on most NZ variants. A common second-hand buy in Hamilton, often changing hands with only a single key by the time we are called.

Impreza GK/GT (2016–present): The current Impreza introduced Subaru's proximity smart key with push-button start across most NZ trims. Programming is carried out through the vehicle's diagnostic port, with proximity and start function tested before we finish the job.

All-keys-lost Impreza: We read the immobiliser through the OBD port, generate a new key registration, and delete the lost key from the system — done on site with no towing required in the great majority of cases.

GK/GT smart key not detecting: A flat coin-cell battery is the most common cause of intermittent proximity failures. We carry the correct battery and re-pair on site.

Older GE/GH transponder key lost: A frequent callout from Hamilton's large population of second-hand Impreza owners — straightforward and affordable to resolve.

Remote de-sync after 12V battery change: Subaru remotes can de-register after a battery disconnect. Re-paired via OBD on site, no new fob needed.

Spare key for a first-car Impreza: Many Imprezas are bought as a first car with only one key. We cut and program a spare while the original still works.

A Rototuna owner called us when his Impreza's only smart key stopped working after it had been through a wash cycle in a jacket pocket — the fob wouldn't unlock or start the car at all afterwards.

We arrived and found water ingress had damaged the fob's internal battery contact. Because the key blade and chip were intact, we transferred the working electronics into a replacement fob casing, re-paired it via the diagnostic port, and confirmed full proximity and push-button start function.

Total time on site: 40 minutes. The owner avoided an all-keys-lost callout entirely.
