BYD Atto 3 Locksmith Hamilton

The Atto 3 uses a proximity smart key with push-button start, concealing a physical key blade inside the fob for manual door entry if the battery dies completely. The fob is programmed to the vehicle's immobiliser through the OBD port, and because the Atto 3 is an EV, the key is also linked to the car's power management system.

All-keys-lost Atto 3: We read the security data from the immobiliser, generate a new key registration, program a replacement fob, and delete the lost key's codes from the system. Done at your vehicle in the great majority of cases.

Flat fob battery: The physical blade inside the fob will open the door, but push-start will not work until the battery is replaced and the fob re-paired — a common source of confused, stranded Atto 3 owners who assume the car itself has failed.

Spare keys: An Atto 3 running on a single key is one lost fob away from being stranded, since there is no easy workaround for an EV. Cutting a spare while the original still works is cheap insurance.

Fob not detecting: By far our most common Atto 3 callout. Almost always a flat CR2032 battery, sometimes with a de-pair event if the battery was swapped incorrectly. We carry the correct battery and re-pair on site.

Confusion over the hidden blade: Many Atto 3 owners do not know there is a physical key blade concealed in the fob. We show owners how to use it for emergencies, then fix the underlying battery or pairing issue.

Cracked fob casing: The Atto 3 fob casing can crack if dropped. Where the circuit board is undamaged, we rebuild the fob with a replacement casing.

Smart key programming with an existing working key typically runs $350–$550. All-keys-lost recovery adds roughly $150–$300 on top. Battery replacement and re-pairing, when that is all that is needed, is usually much less — we quote the real job over the phone, not the worst case.

A Flagstaff homeowner called us after her Atto 3 stopped responding to the key fob entirely — no door unlock, no push-start. She had tried the physical blade hidden in the fob to get the door open but still could not start the car, and assumed something serious had failed.

We arrived in 30 minutes and found a simply flat CR2032 battery combined with a de-pair that had happened during a previous attempted battery swap. We fitted the correct battery, re-paired the fob to the immobiliser, and confirmed it against the EV's power management system.
