Because the Shark 6 only exists as a 2024-onward model, there is no older version of this ute that we have a long track record with the way we do with, say, a Toyota Hilux. Like the rest of BYD's current range it almost certainly uses a proximity smart key with push-button start, and most jobs of this kind — battery replacement, re-pairing, straightforward key programming — are well within the tooling we already carry for other current-generation smart key vehicles.

What we will not do is guess on an all-keys-lost job or quote blind. If your Shark 6 needs anything beyond a straightforward battery or pairing fix, we will say so upfront and point you toward the right option rather than taking on a job we cannot finish.

Call us with your rego, your specific problem (fob not detecting, key lost, lockout), and we will check it against what we can currently support before anyone travels. In many cases a flat CR2032 fob battery or a simple re-pair is all that is needed, and that is something we can usually sort the same way we do for any other current smart key vehicle.

As more Shark 6 utes arrive in New Zealand and we build up real experience with them, we will expand what we can confidently offer — and we would rather tell you that honestly now than overstate it.
