BYD Song Plus Key System and What We Can Do

The Song Plus uses a push-button start proximity key programmed via OBD into the immobiliser. With a working key available, we cut and program a spare on site. If every key is lost, we carry out all-keys-lost recovery — reading the immobiliser, generating a new key registration, and deleting the lost key's codes.

As with other current BYD models, we confirm the new key is recognised correctly by the power management system before finishing the job.

Common BYD Song Plus Key Problems in Hamilton

Flat fob battery: The leading cause of a Song Plus that suddenly stops detecting its key. We carry the correct CR2032 battery and re-pair on site.

Lost only key: Many Song Plus owners are running on a single key from new. A spare cut while the original works is cheap insurance against a stressful morning.

Lockouts: Keys locked inside at home or at the shops — opened without damage using non-destructive tools.

BYD key questions

Can you replace a BYD Song Plus key if all keys are lost?

Yes. We read the security data from the immobiliser and generate a new key without needing the original.

How much does a BYD Song Plus key replacement cost in Hamilton?

Smart key programming with an existing key: $350–$550. All-keys-lost recovery: typically an extra $150–$300. Exact price confirmed over the phone.

Can you do a 2024 or newer BYD Song Plus?

We cover the Song Plus up to 2023 model year. These brands are new to NZ and growing fast, so for 2024-onward models call us with your registration and we'll confirm — we're expanding coverage as more of these land on Kiwi roads.
