Honda Insight Key Systems
Because the Insight has been sold in a couple of distinct generations and has a sizeable used-import population, the key system you have depends heavily on the specific car. Earlier Insights generally use a conventional transponder key, often with a separate remote fob for central locking. Later and higher-grade Insights move to a smart/proximity key with push-button start, in keeping with the rest of Honda's range through the same period.
The hybrid battery and drivetrain are completely separate systems from the key and immobiliser, so hybrid ownership doesn't change how we approach the job — we program a key or fob to match what the vehicle's immobiliser expects via the OBD port, same as any other Honda. If no working key is available at all, we can generate a new one directly from the vehicle.
