Toyota Aqua Locksmith Hamilton

The Aqua was sold in New Zealand as a Japanese domestic market import (JDM). This is important for key replacement because the Aqua's proximity smart key uses Toyota's H-chip system — a hybrid-specific variant of Toyota's standard smart key that interacts with both the push-to-start system and the EV power management.

All-keys-lost Aqua: This is our most common Aqua callout. The Aqua is a popular first car for young Hamilton drivers, and it frequently arrives with only one key from the original purchase. When that key is lost, the car is completely immobile — the push-button start cannot be bypassed without the correct fob.

We gain non-destructive entry to the vehicle, access the OBD port, run the Toyota all-keys-lost sequence to extract the immobiliser's security data, and program a new H-chip proximity key on site. The whole process typically takes 45–65 minutes from our arrival.

JDM Aqua vs NZ-new Aqua: Most Hamilton Aquas are JDM imports. The key blank and programming sequence are the same as NZ-new Prius c models. We carry H-chip blanks for both.

Push-start not working — dead fob battery: When the Aqua's fob battery dies, the push-to-start system fails. The fob has a physical backup blade that opens the door, but the car will not start without a functional proximity fob. We replace the battery and re-pair if needed.

Only key lost: The most urgent Aqua call. All-keys-lost recovery is our standard procedure — no towing required.

Fob case cracked or buttons worn: H-chip fob casings and button pads deteriorate with daily use. We rebuild Aqua fobs with replacement casings where the circuit board is intact — much cheaper than a full replacement.
