Mazda Atenza Key System — JDM AKE Platform

The Atenza GJ (2012–2018) and GL (2018–present) both use Mazda's Advanced Keyless Entry proximity smart key. Push-to-start is standard across virtually all NZ Atenza imports — it was a flagship feature on the Atenza in the JDM market.

JDM blank compatibility: One issue that occasionally arises is locksmiths using an incorrect key blank for the JDM Atenza. The Atenza's physical blade profile is the same as the NZ-new Mazda6, but some older key machines do not have the JDM variant listed separately. We carry blanks that are confirmed compatible with both JDM and NZ-new models.

All-keys-lost Atenza: Follows the standard Mazda BCM OBD sequence. Entry gained non-destructively; BCM seed read; new AKE key programmed at the vehicle. Takes 50–65 minutes typically.
