Mazda CX-3 Key System

The CX-3 (DJ generation, 2015–present) uses Mazda's Advanced Keyless Entry (AKE) system — a proximity smart key with push-to-start across all NZ trims. There is no lower-spec variant with a conventional transponder key.

Key programming: The AKE system requires OBD access to the BCM (Body Control Module). In all-keys-lost situations, the BCM security seed is read, the key data generated from scratch, and a new proximity key programmed. Old keys are deleted from the system.

Fob battery: The CX-3 fob uses a CR2032 cell. A marginal battery causes intermittent proximity detection failures — the push-start may work one attempt and not the next. We carry the correct battery and re-pair if needed.
