Mazda CX-60 Locksmith Hamilton

The CX-60 runs a proximity smart key with push-button start as standard across the New Zealand range — there is no base-trim transponder option on this model the way there is on older, smaller Mazdas. Programming a smart key is done through the OBD port in the normal case, and where that is not possible we can read the immobiliser or ECU directly to pull the data needed to generate a key.

Because the CX-60 only reached New Zealand showrooms from 2023, a large share of the cars on the road fall outside our confirmed coverage window — see the FAQ below. Fob battery issues are the most likely CX-60 callout we will see as the model ages — a flat or marginal CR2032 cell causes intermittent proximity detection, with the push-button start working inconsistently. We carry the correct replacement batteries and can re-pair a fob where a battery swap has caused it to fall out of sync, on vehicles within our coverage window.

Lockouts and all-keys-lost situations follow the same general process as other current Mazda smart key models — non-destructive entry where the key is locked inside, and generating a new key directly from the vehicle where every key has gone missing, with the old key deleted from the immobiliser afterwards.

A Cambridge owner with an early CX-60 — one of the first imported ahead of the main New Zealand launch — called after misplacing the fob at home. The car was within our coverage window for this model, so we confirmed the job over the phone and attended the same day.

On site, a thorough search of the vehicle and a battery check ruled out a simple fix, so we worked through the standard proximity key recovery process, generating a replacement key for the vehicle and confirming the car started and locked normally before leaving.
