Mazda6 Locksmith Hamilton

Mazda6 GG/GY (2002–2007): Basic transponder key with remote central locking. No push-to-start — a straightforward and affordable key replacement job. Very common second-hand car in Hamilton; frequently arrives with a single key.

Mazda6 GH (2008–2012): Updated transponder system with a combined remote key on higher trims. A conventional physical ignition switch. Still common in Hamilton and Waikato suburban use.

Mazda6 GJ/GL (2012–present): Current generation introduced Mazda's Advanced Keyless Entry system — proximity smart key with push-to-start on Sport and higher trims. The AKE system requires OBD access to the BCM for key programming. All-keys-lost recovery generates a new key at the vehicle without towing.

Mazda6 Atenza (JDM import): Many Mazda6 sedans in Hamilton are JDM Atenza imports. The key system is identical to the NZ-new GJ/GL — same AKE proximity smart key and the same programming procedure.

AKE smart key not detecting: The most common current-gen Mazda6 callout. A marginal CR2032 battery causes proximity detection failures before the fob goes completely flat. We carry the correct batteries and re-pair on site.

All keys lost on older GH models: Very common with second-hand GH Mazda6 sedans bought with a single key. We extract the transponder code and program a new blade and chip on site.

GJ/GL all-keys-lost: More involved — requires Mazda BCM OBD access to generate new AKE key data. No towing required.

Fob case wear: The current Mazda6 fob case is well-built but cracks if dropped on hard surfaces. We rebuild with replacement casings where the board is intact.

Remote de-pair after main battery change: A very common callout — Mazda6 remotes sometimes lose sync after the car battery is replaced. Re-paired via OBD in most cases, no new remote needed.
