Mazda3 Key Systems by Generation
Mazda3 BK (2003–2009): Basic transponder key with remote central locking fob. Among the more affordable Mazda key jobs — the BK is common as a first car and frequently arrives with only one key.
Mazda3 BL (2009–2013): Updated transponder system with remote key. Still a conventional system with a physical ignition switch.
Mazda3 BM/BN (2013–2019): Advanced Keyless Entry introduced on higher trims (Touring and above). Lower trims continued with a conventional transponder remote. Push-to-start available from around 2015 on higher-spec models.
Mazda3 BP (2019–present): Current generation uses AKE across most NZ variants. The BP Mazda3's push-to-start and proximity entry are now standard on all trims above base spec. The most sophisticated Mazda3 key system.
Common Mazda3 Key Problems in Hamilton
