Mazda CX-9 Key Systems by Generation
CX-9 TB (2007–2016): The original CX-9 uses a transponder key with a separate remote central locking fob across most trims — a straightforward and relatively affordable key to replace. These are now common second-hand family buys in Hamilton and frequently arrive with only one working key.
CX-9 TC (2016–present): The current CX-9 moved to a proximity smart key with push-button start on Limited and Takami trims, while GSX runs a transponder remote. Programming is carried out through the OBD port in the normal case.
